The painters just finished hanging wallpaper in our powder room.  I love it!  It's Lacework in ocean by Amy Butler.  Did you know she designed wallpaper?  I stumbled upon it and cannot believe how great it works with the green ceiling that was already there.  Plus, our family room has a large navy sofa and green walls so it all flows nicely.  Yay!

Now to just paint the vent to match the ceiling....

The girls are home and I'm soaking them in.  Happy weekend to you all.

I'm here. I've been to Milwaukee, with a quick pit stop in Chicago, and the girls are at Camp Grandma, but really, I'm here.  I'm trashing out my house and it is so cathartic. I dropped two big bags off at Goodwill this morning and I'm getting ready to go through all that yarn, plus some more in my studio and donate it to some charity knitters.  I spent over an hour folding fabric while listening to This American Life podcasts.  The studio is close to being really clean again - that feels good too. 

There's some top secret room painting happening for Kate (from green to pale blue per her request) and I did a quick run through of Jane's room with a trash bag.  I wish I were as brave as Blair, but I know that wouldn't go over well at all so Jane is going to have to go through the rest with me. 

We have lots of little tomatoes ripening in the garden and some big ones ripening on our kitchen windowsill.  I think we'll harvest the carrots and the potatoes this weekend.  And that will pretty much be the end of our summer.  School starts Wednesday and I think the girls are ready to go back.  They are both thrilled about their teachers and the uniforms and lunch boxes are ready to go.  I am looking forward to getting reacquainted with my sewing machine - it's been serviced and tuned and is now ready to sew.  I'll have some camera straps for the shop within the next few weeks and probably some scrap bags too.  Maybe even a few other things if the stars align.

I'm feeling sort of quiet these days so I thought I'd share some photos from this weekend which was full of good friends and good food.  Hope your week is off to a great start.

We spent the last week in the mountains.  Once the plane touched down, I had a this notion that I needed to knit something. right. away.  I decided on another tea leaves because I had the pattern on my computer.  But I hadn't brought any yarn or needles with me so I set out to visit the local yarn store.  I had a very difficult time finding a worsted weight yarn that I liked.  Get this:  the ones with enough yardage were all green.  Normally, I'd be doing cartwheels, but not when my other tea leaves is very green itself.  In the end, I settled on this sapphire blue.  It's Tupa by Mirasol Peru, color 812.  It might be a little smaller than worsted and I didn't swatch for gauge.  I also went down a size so in all reality, it may not work out so well.  Then again, it just may.

Friday night I made the dill pickles.  I used this recipe which I cut in half. I also cut my cukes into spears before I soaked them and then processed for 10 minutes at the end. I'll let you know how they turn out in a month or so.  Waiting is hard.

Saturday we spent the day at the final swim meet of the season and then at the school carnival that night.  Can you say tired?

Sunday I quilted some fabric for a project. It won't get finished for a few weeks as the machine needs to go into the shop.  It's not good when the little screwdriver and wrench icon shows up on the display.

Monday I baked a pie because the peaches were ripe and I like pie.  Good reasons if you ask me.
