Beginning with a regular length machine stitch, sew along the line until the vertical line. Backstitch about three or four stitches and sew back to the vertical line.
VERY IMPORTANT: Now lengthen your machine stitch to baste.
With your basting stitch, continue sewing along the line. Stop when you get to the next vertical mark.
VERY IMPORTANT: Change your stitch back to a regular length.
Sew three or four stitches and then backstitch to the vertical line. Sew to the end of the fabric.
